JEWELL ANN DAVIS MILLER October 12, 1941 ~ March 15, 2018 Jewell Ann Davis Miller died March 15, 2018, in Red Bluff at the age of 76. Jewell was born in Chicago Heights, Illinois, on October 12, 1941, the youngest of Jay Dea and Nellie Estelle Davis's seven children. Her parents moved to Garden Grove, California, in 1942 and then to Corning in 1954. With the exception of her military service and two years in the mid-1970s, she spent the majority of her life in Corning. She graduated from Corning Union High School in 1959 and thereafter served two years in the U.S. Army, principally at Ft. Dix, New Jersey, where in 1961 she met and married Charles R. Miller, of Altoona, Pennsylvania. She was married to Charles for 47 years, until his death in 2008. Jewell was a 1974 graduate of California State University, Chico, with a degree in Geography. She worked as a restaurant manager, a teacher, a Tehama County probation officer and, for more than two decades, as a revenue officer for the Internal Revenue Service. She is survived by her four sons Howard (Margaret) of Nashville, TN, Robert (Angie) of Dairyville, Jack (Susan) of Merced, John (Leah) of Red Bluff, fifteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, her six siblings and her husband Charles.
