Dorothy Lucian “Dot” Hall Some people leave behind beautiful paintings. Others leave behind treasured family recipes or well-tended gardens. Dot left all of those, but what she gave most generously was the way she made people feel. She had a remarkable gift for making everyone feel seen, welcomed, and genuinely loved. She delighted in the happiness of others, embraced life with curiosity and an open heart, and left behind a legacy of kindness, laughter, and love that will continue to brighten the lives of all who knew her. Dorothy Lucian “Dot” Hall passed away on June 4, 2026, at the age of 93. Born on January 6, 1933, in San Diego, California, Dot grew up in Paradise before making Red Bluff her home for more than sixty years. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of nearly forty years, Roy Hall; her beloved daughter, Linda Pritchett; and her parents, Ned and Viola Lundin. She is survived by her son, John Hall; her grandchildren, Jodi Key, Aaron Hall, Nicole Owens, and Kelly Ayler; and her cherished great-grandchildren, Skyler Key, Preston Hall, Carson Hall, Ally Owens, Macy Owens, Cash Ayler, and Blake Ayler. An accomplished artist and art teacher, Dot shared her creativity generously throughout her life. Her artwork earned numerous awards, including many first-place ribbons at the Tehama County Fair, and was later honored with a special exhibition at the historic State Theatre, where an entire gallery was dedicated to celebrating her paintings. Today, her artwork continues to brighten the homes and businesses of friends, neighbors, and members of the community she loved. Nature was one of Dot’s greatest joys and constant sources of inspiration. Many of her paintings reflected the beauty of forests, oceans, wildlife, and the peaceful landscapes she cherished. At home, she found endless delight in tending her garden, watching the deer and other wildlife that wandered through her property, and caring for her beloved chickens, affectionately known as “the girls” at Dot’s Coop. She also loved traveling, playing Bridge, spending time on the golf course, where she won many championship tournaments, and cooking for those she loved. Her fried chicken, Thanksgiving gravy, and famous zucchini bread became family favorites that will be remembered with every shared meal. Dot believed life was meant to be lived with curiosity, kindness, and joy. She trusted her intuition, believed deeply in the power of positive thinking, and often reminded those she loved that life presents opportunities: you simply have to reach out and take them. Whether attending a grandchild’s school play, a sporting event, a dance performance, or simply sharing an afternoon together, Dot wasn’t someone who merely showed up; she was genuinely delighted to be there. She celebrated what brought other people happiness, making every person feel like they were the most important one in the room. To know Dot was to know someone who listened without judgment, loved without reservation, and made people feel at home. She had a wonderful sense of humor and a special gift for making people laugh. One of her favorite sayings was, “If I can make you laugh, I’ve done my job.” Anyone fortunate enough to know her knows she accomplished that beautifully. Dot also treasured the close-knit community she built with her neighbors on the hill, where she lived for decades. They became far more than neighbors; they became extended family, sharing morning coffee, celebrating life’s moments together, and looking after one another through the years. In her later years, they lovingly returned the care she had so freely given, surrounding her with friendship, compassion, and unwavering support. Dot’s legacy lives on not only through her family, but through the countless lives she brightened with her warmth, generosity, creativity, humor, and joyful spirit. She showed us that kindness is never wasted, laughter is one of life’s greatest gifts, and a life is measured not only by the years we are given, but by the love we leave behind. A graveside service will be held on Monday, July 27, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery, 600 Cemetery Lane, Red Bluff, California. A Celebration of Life will immediately follow at Enjoy Local, 615 Main Street, Red Bluff, California. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude for the love and support shown during this time. Hall Brothers Corning Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements. Dot will be deeply missed, forever loved, and remembered with every shared laugh, every blooming garden, every act of kindness, and every opportunity embraced with an open heart.
